[Saba Sports News] Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was dismissed from the game against the Denver Nuggets on Monday following a contentious interaction with the referees. During the matchup at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA, the Hawks were behind 99-86 shortly before the end of the third quarter. As Christian Braun of the Nuggets was at the free-throw line, Young expressed his anger about a perceived uncalled foul on his recent shot.
The two-time All-Star’s demonstrative clapping led referee Brent Haskill to issue him a technical foul. The situation escalated, resulting in Hawks coach Quin Snyder receiving a technical foul as well. Young’s continued protests earned him a second technical, leading to his ejection from the game.
Prior to this, Young had experienced contact while attempting an off-balance shot, defended by Nuggets’ Peyton Watson, but no foul was called. Instead, the Hawks’ Bogdan Bogdanovic was penalized for a foul soon after.
Young’s performance concluded with 19 points, 9 assists, and 5 turnovers. Without their key player, the Hawks struggled to recover. The Nuggets ultimately secured a 129-122 victory, despite Bogdanovic’s career-best 40 points and Dejounte Murray’s 21 points.
