[Saba Sports News] San Antonio Spurs’ new talent Victor Wembanyama outdid Giannis Antetokounmpo’s remarkable athleticism during their game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Antetokounmpo had just put the Bucks ahead with a stunning spin and dunk over several defenders, showcasing the agility that’s part of his “Greek Freak” persona.
On the following play, Wembanyama, the Spurs’ emerging star, surpassed the Bucks’ seasoned player with an incredible self-alley-oop off the backboard.
Captured on the NBA phantom cam, the dunk left Bucks’ Bobby Portis visibly astonished.
By halftime, Wembanyama’s stats were modest – 8 points and 5 rebounds – but they hardly captured the full impact of his performance. He continued to impress in the second half, channeling Jamal Crawford with a behind-the-back maneuver followed by a dunk over Brook Lopez, the 2023 DPOY runner-up.
Each of Wembanyama’s spectacular dunks was just a single field goal in the stats, but they highlighted his exceptional blend of size and agility, underscoring his vast potential. Notably, Wembanyama isn’t the only 7-foot rookie to pull off a self-alley-oop this season, making the race for the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year one of the most competitive in recent memory.
