[Saba Sports News] The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is adhering to previous Decision Review System (DRS) protocols in its ongoing second season, specifically regarding a rule that has been discontinued internationally.
This rule involves reviewing caught-behind decisions during stumping appeal reviews, a practice that was common but recently eliminated. Despite this change at the international level by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in December, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to maintain the original DRS rules for the WPL, aiming for consistency with the domestic season that began in September.
The future application of this rule in the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting March 22, remains uncertain. Additionally, the WPL is introducing Zing wickets without Zing bails for the first time, where run out and stumping decisions will be made based on the stumps lighting up, diverging from the international standard of using Zing bails, as seen in the current India-England Test series.
